Total renovation of the Country Club wetlands

The work was carried out while keeping the Country Club restaurant in operation.

Situation

Geneva Country Club offers a wide variety of activities, especially for youngsters aged 4 to 15. They are welcomed for regular lessons or tennis clinics, or from the age of six, for multi-sport clinics including tennis, horse riding, sailing, water skiing, squash or swimming.

Aquagym and aqua-fit programs for adults complete the range of sports on offer, ensuring that the club’s attendance is spread over a considerable age range. The Club is located between Geneva and Versoix, not far from the lake, and is easily accessible, a fact that contributes greatly to its success and longevity.

The program of works envisaged concerned the renovation of the wetland area, in order to improve its quality and attractiveness, and to offer an expanded range of sporting and para-sporting leisure activities.

The intervention involved the installation of new showers, a new swimming pool and a new garden which includes a terrace.

Some of the existing equipment, such as jacuzzis and hammams, were reused, and the entire 3,300 m3 SIA volume was redesigned to offer a high value space, highlighted by a modern decorating style and carefully and professionally designed lighting.

Project

Atmosphere and quality of space. The work, carried out while keeping the restaurant in operation, includes completely renovated sanitary facilities, linked to the aquatic activities: they feature a sober design and obvious aesthetic qualities, underlined by the recurrent use of stainless steel.

The waterproofing of the wet zone is ensured by a special inner lining, resistant to water pressure. The complex is characterized by an elegant decor, based on a single theme adapted to each room and the specific features to be taken into account.

The centerpiece of the facility, the indoor pool features massage jets and is distinguished by an assertive contemporary style, echoing natural hues such as gray, black and brown. The décor and interior fittings are designed in the same spirit of elegance and tranquillity, with wenge tables, taupe sofas, chocolate poufs, frosted glass and stainless steel elements.

Low-voltage lighting makes a major contribution to the overall ambience and, adapted to the wet rooms, is distributed by a mixture of direct and indirect lighting, naturally compensating for the layout of the rooms in the basement. Underfloor heating and controlled ventilation add to user comfort, while the acoustic ambience is ensured by triple soundproof glazing and false ceilings in water-repellent plasterboard, lined with soundproof panels.
