Nido

Situation

Situated on the boundary between nature and the city, the NIDO project lies at the heart of a developing district in Ostermundigen. This new timber-frame residential building comprises 17 apartments of varying types, all with generous outdoor spaces.

The through-housing design encourages natural light and good ventilation. The structure optimizes the use of floor space and enables great adaptability over time.

Program

The chosen solution is based on a modular wooden structure, designed for flexibility, rapid implementation and low long-term maintenance costs.

The building incorporates high-performance technical equipment such as geothermal probes with heat pumps, double-flow ventilation with heat recovery and photovoltaic installations on the roof.

Special features

Among the elements that make this project unique, wood construction plays a central role. Both an ecological and technical choice, this material enables precise prefabrication, reduced construction times and a highly controlled carbon footprint. It also contributes to a warm, healthy interior atmosphere, while reducing long-term maintenance costs.

The building’s modular architecture allows for great flexibility in space planning and long-term adaptability. This construction system also offers greater energy efficiency thanks to compact, well-insulated envelopes.
